The special education resource (RTSE) is the worst! Incompetent, rude, lies, and unwilling to do the job. Be prepared for a very difficult IEP meeting if you want the team to consider any other placement beyond the home/feeder school.

RTSE, case manager, resource teachers terrific—approachable, collaborative, encouraging, responsive. After frustrating elementary IEP experience, very happy with how IEPs are implemented in middle school.
My son went to Parkland MS. It was a great fit for him. It is a very calm and friendly school. His accommodations were always implemented and his teachers were easy to talk to and very helpful. He really made a lot of progress in middle school. Parkland was particularly nice because of all the science electives available and the option to take high school physics and high school intro to engineering design in 8th grade. They also offer a high school level astronomy class. Another nice thing about Parkland is the many options for 1st semester electives. It was a far better middle school experience than I ever thought he could have.
