There is a self-contained LFI program in Lakewood Elementary School. The teachers are very nice and devoted. But the staff/student rate is unreasonably high considering the kids in the program are mostly conditionally and globally delayed, some are in wheelchair that need additional attention and one-on-one aids. There are three LFI classes. I am not sure of the 4-5 grade class. But the K-1 and 2-3 classes both have 12-13 students, with one special ed teacher, and 1 full time aid. The number of students are still growing, but the staff is getting less. The class used to have one teacher with two aids.
General ed classes are great in Lakewood. Some special need kids that attend the main-stream class have one-on-one aid for them, which is quite different from the LFI classes.
